Aaron
Noble
Born 1961.
Aaron Noble's work is an amalgamation of comics, collage, and muralism.
He primarily works on large-scale site-specific wall paintings and
related works on paper and canvas. Noble cites the superhero comics
of the sixties and seventies as an early influence.
Noble
created his first etching, Luna, in the fall of 2005 at
Wingate Studio in conjunction with the annual Smith
College Print Workshop. To create Luna, Noble
worked from a previous watercolor that began as a synthesis of various
comic book fragments. The reconfigured comic parts in his work produce
unpredictable and mysterious results. Working from the watercolor,
Noble first superimposed a line drawing onto a copper plate and
subsequently etched additional plates that provided more detail
and color reminiscient of the comics that he references.
Noble
exhibits at Pavel
Zoubok and is represented by Booklyn
Arts in NYC. His print was recently featured on the
cover of the periodical Beautiful/Decay.
